Installing Windows Server 2016 on a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox)

Follow these steps to install VirtualBox on your PC:

  1. Visit this link and select Windows Hosts from the options.
  2. The VirtualBox file will download to your PC.
  3. Run the VirtualBox installer.
Note: If you encounter issues, deselect the USB features during installation.

Here’s how to create a new virtual machine in VirtualBox:

  1. Click New in the Machine section.
  2. Name the Virtual Machine, select the Windows Server .iso file location, then click Next.
    3. Note: Tick the box labeled Skip Unattended Installations.
  3. Allocate at least 4 GB of RAM and click Next.
    4. Note: Adjust the RAM according to your needs, ensuring it meets system requirements.
  4. Choose to Create a Virtual Hard Disk Now (minimum 50 GB recommended). Click Next.
  5. In the Summary window, click Finish.
  6. In the Tools tab, click the button with three dots to select the Windows Server .iso file. Choose Media from the dropdown menu.
  7. Under the Optical Disks tab, click Add.
  8. Click Start to power on the virtual machine.
  9. Windows Server 2016 installation will commence.
