Installing Windows Server 2016 on a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox)
Follow these steps to install VirtualBox on your PC:
- Visit this link and select Windows Hosts from the options.
- The VirtualBox file will download to your PC.
- Run the VirtualBox installer.
Note: If you encounter issues, deselect the USB features during installation.
Here’s how to create a new virtual machine in VirtualBox:
- Click New in the Machine section.
- Name the Virtual Machine, select the Windows Server .iso file location, then click Next.
- Allocate at least 4 GB of RAM and click Next.
- Choose to Create a Virtual Hard Disk Now (minimum 50 GB recommended). Click Next.
- In the Summary window, click Finish.
- In the Tools tab, click the button with three dots to select the Windows Server .iso file. Choose Media from the dropdown menu.
- Under the Optical Disks tab, click Add.
- Click Start to power on the virtual machine.
- Windows Server 2016 installation will commence.
Note: Tick the box labeled Skip Unattended Installations.
