How to Set Up Windows Server 2008 R2 on a Virtual Machine Using VirtualBox

To install VirtualBox on your PC, follow these instructions:

  1. Open this link and select the Windows Hosts option from the list.
  2. The VirtualBox installer will download to your PC.
  3. Run the VirtualBox installer and proceed with the installation. Click Next.
Note: If you encounter issues during installation, deselect the USB support features in the setup wizard.

Here’s how to create a new virtual machine (VirtualBox):

  1. In the Machine menu, click the New button.
  2. Enter a name for the virtual machine, select the location of the Windows Server 2008 .iso file, and then click Next.
  3. Note: Make sure to check the Skip Unattended Installations box.
  4. Allocate at least 2 GB of RAM and click Next.
  5. Note: You can choose a different amount based on your preferences, as long as it meets the system requirements.
  6. Select the option to Create a Virtual Hard Disk Now (a minimum of 30 GB is recommended for proper operation). Then click Next.
  7. In the Summary window, click Finish.
  8. In the Tools tab, select the Windows Server 2008 .iso file by clicking the button with the three dots. A drop-down menu will open, and click on Media.
  9. Next, go to the optical drives tab and click Add.
  10. Start the virtual machine by clicking Start.
  11. The installation of Windows Server 2008 will begin.
